I finally got around to building this beer can stove tonight. While it was fun, I doubt I would actually use it for backpacking. A white gas stove is worth all the extra weight and Esbit is lighter. However it’s not often you get to justify playing with fire and suggest building one for the fun of it anyway.

been there and built one... I used the 32 oz heinken can to make an extra large one, filled with some high grade alcohol from an old internship back in the day.
but yeah, not worth the unreliability.
Funny I used a 32oz heinken also :-) Emily's fondue burner seemed to burn longer.
Guess I'm getting old but white gas rocks!
